Bruno Zuccala, Visual Education Coordinator

Currently Bruno Zuccala is a retired assistant to the administrator and Intervention Specialist for the Seneca Valley School District in Zelienople, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a B.S. in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree as a Reading Specialist from Slippery Rock, and a Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision from Westminster College, Bruno has thirty-four years experience as an educator. In 2005 and 2006, Bruno was a Teacher of the Year candidate for the State of Pennsylvania. Numerous awards, program developments, educational consultations and in-service presentations are among his experiences.

In the marching music activity, Bruno has 46 years involvement in various capacities. He was with the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps of Rosemont, Illinois for 27 years. Bruno has coordinated numerous marching band and winter guard programs on the Bands of America and Winter Guard International levels. His accomplishments with the Norwin Senior High School program are numerous. Independent group involvement with Escapade Winter Guard of Dayton, Ohio and the Rosemont Cavaliers Winter Guard are among his credits. Bruno Zuccala is the current visual coordinator for the Pennsylvania Federation of Contest Judges as well as a fifteen-year Bands of America Adjudicator, A Level Three Adjudicator for Winter Guard International, and independent/quest adjudicator to many band and guard circuits. He is also a member of The Midwest Judges’ Guild. In 2001, Bruno was named the Assistant Equipment Facilitator for Winter Guard International. He was the 2006 and 2007 Equipment Caption Manager for WGI. He is also a color guard and visual clinician and consultant for many programs, such as the award winning Ventures Drum and Bugle Corps from Kitchener/Waterloo, Canada. In March 1996, Bruno completed a two-week tour of Japan, guest of the Japanese Marching Band Circuit and government officials. Here he presented numerous clinics to band directors and hands-on sessions with students. Also in 1996, he was the guest clinician for the Miami University of Ohio Marching Band Seminar sponsored by the University of Fred J. Miller Inc. In 1999 traveled to Bergamo, Italy to write for the present clinics to The Millennium Drum and Bugle Corps/Marching Band, Italy’s version of American Drum Corps. Finally, Bruno was an eleven year Color Guard/Visual Representative for the Drum Corps International Judges’ Instructor Task Force.

Recently, he has done University clinics for Duquesne University Marching Band, University of Houston Marching Band, McKendree College Color Guard, and Slippery Rock University Marching Band. At Slippery Rock University, he is the Color Guard Designer. In 2004, Bruno presented student hands-on clinics for The Fred J. Miller Inc. Summer Camp held at Wright State University. In 2007, Bruno was the guest clinician at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. He was a Midwest Judges’ Guild Appreciation Honoree in 2006. In 2008 Bruno joined the Design Team and Instructional Staff of the Sacred Heart Color Guard of Roslindale, Massachusetts. In 20010 Bruno joined the design and teaching staff for the Saint Brendan Color Guard from Dorchester, Massachusetts.

In 2009, the TRWEA Winter Guard Circuit has inducted Bruno into the TRWEA Hall of Fame. This recognition and honor took place at their Circuit Championships.
