Dan Strangis, Music Education Coordinator


Dan Strangis is the senior music teacher in the Bentworth School District. He spent 17 years as the high school band director and has spent the last 9 years as the middle school music teacher. He is a graduate of West Virginia University where he also worked as a staff member with the WVU Mountaineer Marching Band. Throughout his career Mr. Strangis has worked as a percussion instructor/arranger, drill designer and color guard instructor. He has served as an instructor/consultant with several music programs across the country such as the National Champion Norwin High School Marching Band, Percussion Ensemble and Winter Guard, Trinity HS Band, Kiski High School Band, Greater Latrobe HS Band and Winter Guard, John Marshall HS Band (WV), the West Virginia University Mountaineer Marching Band and the University of Alabama Million Dollar Band. 

He currently serves as the percussion coordinator with the Peters Township Marching Band. Mr. Strangis has been a local and national judge for the past 37 years. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Federation of Contest Judges where he served as the Executive Director for 4 years and is currently the Music Education Chair. He has judged several state marching band championships throughout the country and recently completed his 13th year as an adjudicator for the American Legion National Convention Color Guard Championships. 

Mr. Strangis is married to Jill Strangis and is the proud father of Serafina and Gabriela Strangis.
